How to Smudge:
🔹 What You Need
A smudge stick (sage, cedar, palo santo, or another herb/resin blend)
A fireproof bowl/dish (ceramic, abalone shell, clay, or metal)
A lighter or matches
Optional: feather or hand to fan the smoke
🔹 Steps
(1) Set Your Intention
Before lighting, decide why you’re smudging. (e.g., “I release negative energy and welcome peace.”)
(2) Light the Smudge Stick
Hold the tip at a 45° angle and light it. Let it burn for ~20 seconds, then gently blow out the flame so it smolders and produces smoke.
(3) Waft the Smoke
Use your hand or a feather to guide the smoke around:
Yourself (start at the heart, then over head, arms, front, back, and feet)
Your Space (walk slowly around, especially corners, windows, and doorways)
Objects you’d like to cleanse (crystals, tools, gifts, etc.)
(4) Keep the Intention in Mind
As you move, repeat your intention or prayer quietly to yourself.
(5) Finish Safely
Extinguish by pressing the smudge stick into sand, soil, or a fireproof dish. Don’t leave it burning unattended.
